There are four main design styles: traditional, contemporary, transitional, and eclectic. Within these four there are many more terms that can further break down your style, but it is best to start with the basics.
Traditional Design pulls from our past and brings a feeling of formality and history into our homes. There are many types of styles that fall under the traditional category, but all are considered of historic origin from America and Europe. These styles usually match the period from which they came: Victorian, Baroque, Queen Anne, Sheraton, and Louis XIV are all examples of historic themes.
